Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam, MD, MMB, FACP, FACG, Receives the “Soedjono D Poesponegoro” Award at the 32nd IDI Congress

 

Mataram, February 15, 2025 – The President of the Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam, MD, MMB, FACP, FACG, received the prestigious “Soedjono Poesponegoro” award during the 32nd Congress of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), held from February 12–15, 2025, in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.

The award was presented directly by Dr. Moh Adib Khumaidi, President of IDI for the 2022–2025 period, as a form of appreciation for Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam’s dedication and contributions to the field of medicine in Indonesia, particularly in the development of internal medicine and gastroenterohepatology. Additionally, the “Soedjono D Poesponegoro” award serves as a symbol of recognition for individuals who have made significant contributions to scientific writing and publications at both the national and international levels, thereby advancing medical science in Indonesia.

Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam is known for his active involvement in various research initiatives and community service programs. He has also produced numerous scientific works published in highly reputable international and national journals.

The 32nd IDI Congress in Mataram was attended by thousands of doctors from across Indonesia. The event featured several key agendas, including the election of new board members, discussions on work programs, and the implementation of scientific activities such as symposiums.

The “Soedjono D Poesponegoro” award, named after one of Indonesia’s, most prominent medical figures, holds great historical significance. This award is given to doctors who excel not only in their fields but also in contributing significantly through scientific writing that positively impacts public health development.
