Jakarta, May 17, 2025 — The Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) successfully held the National Consensus on the Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) with Extraintestinal Manifestations on May 17, 2025, at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Kemayoran, Jakarta. This scientific event was attended by 38 Gastroenterohepatology Consultants from various regions across Indonesia and involved interdisciplinary collaboration with multiple medical professional organizations.
The objective of this initiative was to develop an up-to-date, evidence-based clinical guideline for managing IBD accompanied by extraintestinal manifestations—a condition that often increases the complexity of patient care. In formulating the consensus, PB PGI worked closely with several professional organizations, including:
- PERDAMI – Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association
- PERDOSKI – Indonesian Society of Dermatology and Venereology
- IRA – Indonesian Rheumatology Association
Scientific Sessions
The consensus meeting featured four main scientific sessions, each presented by experts in their respective fields.
The first two sessions were moderated by Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam, MD, MMB, PhD, FACP, FACG:
- Session 1: Dr. Rabbinu Rangga Pribadi, discussed IBD with Extraintestinal Manifestations and the evaluation algorithm for anti-TNF therapy candidates with latent or active tuberculosis infection.
- Session 2: Dr. Rudy Hidayat, addressed Rheumatologic Manifestations in IBD.
The following two sessions were moderated by Dr. dr. Hasan Maulahela, SpPD-KGEH:
- Session 3: Dr. Menul Ayu Umborowati, presented on Dermatological Manifestations in IBD.
- Session 4: Dr. Rifna Lutfiamida, delivered a session on Ophthalmological Manifestations in IBD.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration for Practical Guidelines
Through in-depth and cross-disciplinary discussions, this event aimed to produce a national consensus that serves as a practical and applicable guideline for healthcare professionals in managing the complex cases of IBD with extraintestinal manifestations in Indonesia.
